Roaming free plan for Airtel prepaid subscribers in Delhi

It was a very old discussion when we heard about free roaming across India under one nation roaming plan. But we have not yet received such thing so far. To take a step forward towards free roaming service in India, Bharti Airtel has launched a Free roaming plan for it’s subscribers of Delhi in few states in India. This plan is only for Delhi prepaid customers. As per the plan prepaid customers can receive incoming calls free if they travel to any of the 5 states – Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand and West Bengal (except Kolkata).

Earlier to that the normal charges for roaming was too high. It was Rs 1 for incoming, Rs 1 for outgoing local and Rs 1.5 for outgoing STD. This rate plan is even higher than other operators. Now with this new Airtel roaming plan subscriber has to recharge with Rs 21 and then they can avail a free incoming facility for 30 days in roaming.

Earlier to that Aircel has launched such plan called “One Nation One Rate”. Even BSNL also declared such plans @ Rs 199 in every six month for their prepaid subscribers under “Roam Free” plan.

By coming October all operators has to remove the roaming charges as per the order from Govt. Although it was decided earlier to be implemented from this March, but all telecom operators were opposing this rule as they might face a huge loss if national roaming becomes a free service.
